WHAT

I invented The Canning Game in 2009 after playing a similar game with a friend. I came up with this unique game that incorporates locally logged and milled "beetle-kill" pinewood, old vintage steel beer cans, and fun rules. Every game is one of a kind, and no two are exactly alike due to the different grains and knots in the trees being used.

WHO

Hi, my name is Scott and I live in Fort Collins, Colorado. I grew up in the midwest, collected beer cans as a kid, and moved to Colorado in the mid-90s. My family and I enjoy a lifestyle of adventurous outdoor pursuits from camping to rock climbing.

WHY

I have always been interested in building things and wood working is a way I can connect to nature. As soon as I decided to make the game, everyone who saw it loved it and wanted one of their own. The Canning Game was an immediate hit.

HOW

Having a relationship with a local logger and saw mill owner allows me to hand pick the "beetle-kill" Ponderosa logs to ensure I am getting the best quality for the games. The logs are sawn with an old-fashioned circle saw which makes beautiful markings on the wood. I then take the rough-cut dimensional lumber, and cut each board to our game board specifications. Then each board panel is sanded and stained in various ways to achieve a unique look.
